Hi all!
Well, thanks to Matt (a.k.a. LUMBERMAN), I have now found this forum! This is very exciting for me, and I really appreciate the opportunity to hob nob with y'all! I guess I should list the gear in my "system" since that is the topic of this thread and not introductions. I thought I had a pretty nice system after a recent global upgrade, but after looking at what some of you have done, mine pales in comparison. Some are just fantastic! Anyway...here goes:
Display: Pioneer Elite 151FD 60" Plasma.
Pre/Pro: Onkyo Pro SC-885
Parasound HCA 750A stereo amplifier
Parasound HCA-1205 5 channel amp
DVD Player: Denon DVD-3930ci
HD-DVD player: Onkyo HD-805
Blu-Ray Player: Oppo BD83
PS Audio Quintet Power Conditioner/Surge Protector
Sound System: Infinity Alpha...37c center, 20 for fronts (bi-amped),
25es surrounds, Infinity Primus 140 for rear 7.1 (I would like to
upgrade to Alpha 10's if anyone has a pair up for grabs), and finally
a HSU VTF3 MK 3 sub.
Blue Jeans speaker wire throughout
A mixture of Planet Waves, Blue Jeans cable, and Straightwire interconnecting cables.
Basement HT dimensions: 12 feet wide by 18 feet long by 7.5 feet high.

| Hey Shawn, glad you were finally able to register! (For my own future reference, what was the solution? Did the message get dropped in a spam folder? Thanks!) |

Hey,
I saw on your equipment list (somewhere on this site) that you have a Behringer ECM-8000 microphone. I am thinking about sending off my Audyssey Pro mic and pre-amp to get them professionally calibrated. I know they already are, but the calibration file is encrypted. Therefore, you can't use it with any other software than Audyssey MultEQ Pro.
It's costs $55 bucks.
Here is more info, just in case you're interested (and haven't heard of this company)...

Thanks for the info! I have used these folks before for my TEF04. I actually know the person who would be dealing with your mic calibration (this field is very small once you get into the pro side of things).
Yes, but I don't use it for anything but near field measurements (if I use it at all). About the only thing it is good for. It is not good for bass by any means. I use the clip inside more than anything! You had better check with Audyssey before you go messing around with the packaged mic. I was told by Chris some time ago that it cannot be used for anything but the Audyssey kit. They don't do any tweaking, just give you a set of tables for the calibration to offset it against a reference. Otherwise, I use a TEF04 microphone and Countryman Lavalier for grazing incidence. I also use EASERA
http://www.renkus-heinz.com/easera/EASERA_Brochure-2009.pdf
which is likely what Audyssey uses (if they use an RTA) while performing tests/analysis in the lab.
MEANWHILE.....
UPDATE!! I finally broke down and purchased a Pioneer Elite 151 before they disappeared forever! Man, coupled with the Oppo player, it is in a class all by itself. _________________ www.soundadviceht.com |
